Pigments

Pigments are substances that impart color to materials by selectively absorbing and reflecting specific wavelengths of light. They are used in various industries, including paints, coatings, plastics, textiles, cosmetics, and printing inks.

Types of Pigments:

1. Organic Pigments (Carbon-based, brighter colors)

• Azo Pigments – Yellow, red, and orange shades (used in plastics, inks, paints).

• Phthalocyanine Pigments – Blue and green (high stability, used in coatings, inks, plastics).

• Quinacridone Pigments – Red and violet (used in automotive paints, plastics, and textiles).

2. Inorganic Pigments (Metal-based, durable, and opaque)

• Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) – White (widely used in paints, plastics, and cosmetics).

3. Special Effect Pigments

• Fluorescent Pigments – Glow under UV light (used in signage, textiles, and safety gear).

• Metallic Pigments – Made from aluminum, bronze, or copper (used in automotive paints and coatings).
